LEONI Central Research & Development (R&D) enjoys great importance in finding basics for new innovations. In the process, innovations not only emerge through the development of new products but also in strategy, structure, staff management, materials, process development, and information technology. Each of these areas continuously tries to advance with new approaches and ideas for a corporate innovative culture to be built.

In the Technology & Innovation department long-term projects extending beyond the classic LEONI core competencies in the R&D field are approached.This creates new possibilities in the area of basic research in order to place our range of offered services on a broader basis and to further increase our competitiveness.

Intedis GmbH & Co. KG, located in Wuerzburg and a joint venture company in which both LEONI and the Westphalian Lippstadt based Hella KG Hueck & Co, a manufacturer of vehicle lighting and electronics, both hold 50 %, supports the LEONI Group especially in the development of complex wiring systems. For these, active components such as electronic modules (control units including software, control elements, lighting, etc) are used besides common passive components.
