Porsche presents Leoni with its Supplier Award 2009 and places follow-up order

Contract worth EUR 200 million to develop and supply wiring systems

Nuremberg – Leoni, the leading provider of cable systems to the automotive industry and other sectors, has received Porsche’s Supplier Award 2009. With this award, the sports car maker appreciates above all the special quality of the wiring systems supplied. Leoni also obtained the contract to develop and supply wiring systems for Porsche. This follow-up order is worth about EUR 200 million over 7 years.

In selecting its ten best suppliers, Porsche evaluated the four criteria of quality, efficiency, flexibility and customer service. Since their introduction, Leoni has been equipping all versions of the Porsche Boxster, Cayman and 911 models with complete wiring systems, which interlink the electrical and electronic components of these sports cars.

Acclamation for outstanding product quality

During the award presentation in Stuttgart’s Porsche Museum, Dr Wendelin Wiedeking, CEO of Porsche AG, emphasized that his company’s relationship with Leoni is one characterised by dependability, durability and fairness. He added it is particularly the outstanding quality of the wiring systems that Leoni supplies which contributes to Porsche brand cars repeatedly being rated for top quality in international studies and comparison tests.
“We are very proud that Porsche recognises our consistency and our contribution to value creation,” said Uwe H. Lamann, member of Leoni’s Management Board and chairman of the Company's Wiring Systems division. “Especially in economically tough times such as these, receiving the Porsche Supplier Award provides our team with special motivation.”
