Nuremberg – Elocab Sonderkabel, a company 100%-owned by LEONI Kabel GmbH & Co. KG, has acquired the French company Composants Industriels Automobiles (CIA), a leading European developer and supplier of cable systems for applications in robotics. CIA employs some 100 staff in all, almost two thirds of whom work at the Chartres headquarters, 90 km south-west of Paris. The CIA group is completed by subsidiaries in Spain, Great Britain and the USA.
The Cable Division has expanded its position on the special cable market quite noticeably in the last three years through acquisitions of Elocab operations in Germany and Canada, Protec Kabel Produktion GmbH and the former Siemens subsidiary in Friesoythe. The integration of CIA will give a boost to this division's international activities, which concentrate on developing, producing and distributing application-specific cable solutions for industrial customers. By bringing the cable system specialists at CIA, LEONI Protec Cable Systems and the special cable forge at Elocab together under one roof, LEONI will be able to offer its customers the leading product technologies in power supply systems for robot applications. Depending on what customers require, either the cable alone or a complete, ready-to-install system can be supplied. Its international sales and service network furthermore enables LEONI to provide maintenance and repair services on request.
