LEONI consistently expands market position

About 550 million Euros in the first six months of 2001 – more than 1 billion Euro targeted until the end of the financial year

Nürnberg – LEONI AG, Nürnberg, has come a big step closer to its objective to exceed the 1 billion Euro mark with an increase in turnover of about 17 % to approximately 550 million Euros in the first six months of 2001 (2000: 470 million Euros).

For further growth, the wire, cable and wiring systems supplier is mainly concentrating on its leading position in the group’s field of competencies, i. e. telecommunications, aerospace, medical engineering, automation systems, electrical appliances and the automotive industry. This was annonced by CEO Ernst Thoma at the Annual General Meeting held in Nürnberg on 4 July 2001.

“Besides the increase in turnover, it is of great importance to us to increase profit on ordinary activities and profit for the financial year by an amount higher in proportion than the increase in turnover“, Thoma stated. In the 2000 financial year LEONI AG achieved a turnover of 0.96 billion Euro – an increase of 56 % compared to the previous year. Profit for the financial year amounted to 22.3 million Euros in 2000.

At the Annual General Meeting, the shareholders almost unanimously agreed upon a dividend payment of 1.70 DEM per share (including a tax credit of 2.34 DEM). Due to the so far very positive development of business, an about 10 % increase of dividends has been promised for the financial year at the meeting.
