LEONI expands robotics business further

German-French joint venture combines systems expertise

Nuremberg/Hanover – The LEONI Group of Nuremberg wants to further expand its business comprising tailor-made solutions for robotics. The robotics specialists LEONI Protec Cable Systems GmbH of Schmalkalden, a LEONI subsidiary, and the French company CIMLEC Industrie S.A., based in Les Mureaux, will now combine their expertise in a joint venture. Subject to approval by the cartel authorities, the joint venture is to commence operating as early as the third quarter of 2005. The two partners will have equal 50 percent stakes in the joint venture company, which will bear the name advintec GmbH and will be based in Hanover, Lower Saxony. In addition to single components for robotic systems, advintec will provide systems that are configured ready for operation as well as an assembly, repair and maintenance service. With this comprehensive range of products and services, advintec will be geared particularly to German carmakers and their suppliers with their production facilities around the globe, manufacturers of industrial robots as well as machinery and plant engineering companies.

Behind the two joint venture partners stand the Nuremberg-based LEONI Group and the French FINUCHEM Group, whose product ranges in the field of robotics complement each other perfectly. LEONI, a supplier of systems and development services in the field of wires and cables for electrical engineering and electronics as well as wiring systems for the automotive industry, has in recent years increasingly focussed on the growth market of robotics and automation. Via is subsidiary LEONI Protec Cable Systems, LEONI operates globally in offering special cables and complete cable systems as well as the related services, and is one of the leading providers in this field.

CIMLEC – leads the way with ready-to-operate robot systems

The FINUCHEM Group, which has its headquarters in France, operates in the segments of robotics for the automotive industry, defence and aviation as well as for bonding materials. The FINUCHEM subsidiary CIMLEC is a manufacturer of components and systems for robotics, particularly welding tongs as well as handling and control systems. A special service it provides is application-specific configuration, pre-programming and integration of complete robot systems on production lines that are either to be newly set up or existing ones. CIMLEC leads the market, foremost so in the French automotive industry, with these ready-to-operate systems.
