LEONI further growing with telecommunication and internet

Board of Directors presents LEONI markets of the future at General Meeting

Nürnberg –LEONI AG, Nürnberg, has increased its turnover in the first six months of 2000 by about 54 % to more than 900 million DEM. This was accounced by the LEONI AG Chairman of the Board at the General Meeting held in Nürnberg on July 6, 2000. In his speech, Ernst Thoma especially emphasised the growing markets of the future – telecommunication and the Internet. LEONI offers a comprehensive range of cable products for these markets ranging from keypads for mobile phones to gigahertz cables for data networks. In the automotive sector LEONI succeeded in receiving the order for the AUDI TT cabling (Coupé and Roadster). Start of delivery will be in autumn 2000. By this, an additional successful model is added to the list of vehicles supplied for by LEONI.
Share capital to be increased and converted to Euro
At the General Meeting, the shareholders unanimously decided to increase the dividends to 1.70 DEM per individual share certificate (previous year: 1.50 DEM + 0.10 DEM bonus). The conversion of the share capital to Euro and a capital increase using corporate reserves was unanimously approved as well. Therefore the share capital of the group will be converted accordingly from 33,000,000 DEM to 16,872,632.08 Euro and then increased by 2,927,367.92 Euro to 19,800,000 Euro. New shares will not be issued for this purpose for the reason that the increase will be effected by converting a respective part of the capital reserve as stated in the balance sheet.
LEONI awarded as quality supplier LEONI lately received quality awards from renowned customers such as Honda, VW/Audi and Philips. Thoma especially mentioned the General Motors "Supplier of the Year-Award". This award is world-wide highly recognised in the branch of industry.
