L&S Transportation Systems about to launch

Joint venture in the promising rolling stock engineering market

Röttenbach – LEONI set up the L&S Transportation Systems (L&S) joint venture with the Swiss cable manufacturer Studer in order to address the promising rolling engineering market with concentrated energy. The joint venture company, which is based in the town of Röttenbach in Germany’s Franconia region, will in the future cover all of the activities of partners LEONI and Studer in the field of rolling stock engineering. LEONI holds 70 percent and Studer has a 30 percent stake in the sales and project management company, which will commence operating with ten staff in October of this year. The company has set itself the target of advancing to being one of the leading providers Europe-wide of wiring solutions for rolling stock.

The company's comprehensive line-up of products and services ranges from bulk cable through to developing and implementing complex systems. In addition to providing specific rolling stock equipment such as passenger information systems, driver’s control panels and crossovers between cars, L&S will also wire complete trains. Access to the worldwide service and production network of the LEONI Group will enable L&S to take on other tasks such as assembly, system installation and service through to outsourcing specific links in the value chain on behalf of its customers. L&S will also offer flexibility in terms of the materials employed, and will be able to respond rapidly as well as flexibly to greater requirements such as in the temperature resistance of the cable to be used, and in new areas of application.
