My name is Christoph and I have been with LEONI since 2018, where I have overall responsibility for IT. My everyday work is marked by discussions with my colleagues outside Germany, by working out a long-term road map and, above all, global meetings to advance the exchange of ideas. Together, we are really driving the technological transformation at LEONI, standing still is never an option for us!
Why did you opt for LEONI as your employer?
Two reasons brought me to LEONI: first, the future-oriented products; and secondly, the sector. The automotive industry has been undergoing an extraordinary transformation over many years, and that excites me. Also, at LEONI, you get a very good mix of elements that might be considered contradictory: an international corporation with a family atmosphere and a high degree of collegiality meets a long company history with many product innovations. In recent years, LEONI has upgraded its work models quite a bit: working from home and trust-based working time give us full flexibility. I think that's great, and it is a very important mark of a good employer.
What is the work culture at LEONI like?
The atmosphere here in IT is a good mix: direct, transparent, and marked by trust. We are all in the same boat, which is why hierarchy levels or job titles don't play that much of a role. By contrast, it is far more important for us that you demonstrate your own initiative and have the ambition to resolve technical and interpersonal challenges. In return, we offer you much scope for development and we advance our colleagues. Here in IT, we forge ahead with many exciting projects together, so everyone can contribute. Our day-to-day operations are not to be underestimated, either. Because of the international and critical nature of IT solutions these days, every day brings fresh challenges.
What has been your best / most exciting moment at LEONI to date?
I wouldn't just pick one special moment but the entire process of my arrival at LEONI in 2018. The many different colleagues, our sites around the world and the openness and joy of collaborating that can be felt everywhere are something that I find genuinely appealing. At the same time, it has paved the way for me to learn many new things at LEONI itself, to develop as a person and manager and to have fun together in our day-to-day work.
What characteristics do you think someone needs to bring to be successful in IT at LEONI?
A degree of confidence is never a bad thing. An openness to new approaches, methods and perspectives is helpful: not only the automotive industry but also LEONI itself is constantly changing. And so it is helpful to have a positive mindset in relation to change because many obstacles can lead to more constructiveness or efficiency. And, with us, a fair amount of resilience is also useful.
