  • LEONI offers three different types of work-study program: a work-study bachelor’s program at a partner university in Baden-Württemberg; a degree program with in-depth practical elements at a partner university in Bavaria; and a work-study master's program

Choose between the three forms of the work-study program: a work-study bachelor’s program at a partner university in Baden-Württemberg; a degree program with in-depth practical elements at a partner university in Bavaria; and a work-study master's program

1. Work-study bachelor's program at a partner university in Baden-Württemberg

1. Work-study bachelor's program at a partner university in Baden-Württemberg

A work-study program alternates between theory and practice phases in a three-monthly cycle. This means that you will study at our partner university in Baden-Württemberg for three months and then spend three months at LEONI, which allows you to acquire theory and practical content in an integrated manner. At LEONI you will be able to work in several departments of relevance to your degree, thereby gaining valuable work experience. Throughout your degree program, including the months you are at university, you will receive € 1,089 - 1,270 per month in pay. A work-study program usually lasts 3 years (6 semesters). You can only start a work-study program in the first semester. Because you will be studying at a separate university attended only by work-study program students, the tuition groups are smaller than they are for a degree program with in-depth practical elements. This allows more targeted support in an environment that is almost family-like.

2. Degree program with in-depth practical elements at a university in Bavaria

2. Degree program with in-depth practical elements at a university in Bavaria

This is a degree integrated into practical learning where you will be enrolled at a university in Bavaria. It means that you attend regular classes and that some of your fellow students won't have a corporate partner. The study groups are larger than they are in a work-study degree program at a partner university. When you are not at university, usually from mid-February to mid-March and in the months of August and September, you will work in our company and gain an insight into the departments that are relevant for your degree. You will spend the other months at university. In addition, you will complete a six-month period in industry, usually in the fifth or sixth semester, at LEONI. You will also write your bachelor's dissertation in collaboration with our company. We offer five subjects for dissertation, in accordance with the focal areas of your degree. Throughout your degree program, including the months you are at university, you will receive € 1,089 - 1,270 per month in pay. All told, the degree usually lasts three and a half years (7 semesters). You have the option to start the degree program with in-depth practical elements partway through the course. If it takes you a while to get your bearings in your degree course and you then decide that the work-study program is right for you, that is no problem. We look forward to receiving your application.

3. Work-study master's program

3. Work-study master's program

As with the work-study bachelor's program, the work-study master's program is a study model where you work for our company in parallel with your degree course. We currently offer the three-semester master's degree course in collaboration with Landshut University. More information can be found here.

What some of our current and former work-study program students have to say:

  • “My daily work as a student with in-depth business management practice could not be more varied because you always pass through several departments. This was exactly right for me, it allowed me to find my specialist area. At the moment, I work in Technology Controlling and I am writing my bachelor's dissertation on the topic of Recording the cost of customer product development projects.” Before that, I was able to support the Governance & Standards department and the project team of the new management concept during my practical phase.”

  • “LEONI’s product range is a perfect match with my degree and its contents. I also enjoy the freedom I have during the practical stage despite working full-time, thanks to working from home and our flexible working hours. I am free to choose which department I wish to work in and which project I want to support. This allows me to test and optimize my own ideas, and I have learned more in a short time than I could have ever imagined.”

  • “My bachelor’s degree was in Techno-Mathematics. After I graduated, I wanted to focus on the automotive industry as part of my master's degree. I came across the degree course in Wiring Systems Development at Landshut Technical University relatively quickly – I was immediately fascinated by the complexity and continual relevance of this product for the future of all vehicles. To gain some hands-on experience, I initially applied to join LEONI as a working student but then I switched to a work-study master's program relatively quickly – I was won over by the professional, financial, and personal benefits.”
