Leoni AG: Dr. Ursula Biernert and Ingo Spengler to augment Executive Board

Supervisory Board appoints experienced senior executives as Chief Human Resources Officer and Chief Operations Officer

Nuremberg – Leoni AG to augment its Executive Board: Effective 1 February 2022, Dr. Ursula Biernert (52) and Ingo Spengler (49) will be joining the Board as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) as well as Labour Director and Chief Operations Officer (COO), respectively. Alongside stabilising the Company further and focussing on the automotive business, the newly constituted Executive Board will forge ahead with developing Leoni into a systems partner to its customers for the wiring system of the future.

Dr. Ursula Biernert has spent key stages of her career in international settings of the automotive industry at Volkswagen and Porsche. Following a further stage on the executive committee of the Thales Group, she was appointed to the management board of DB Cargo AG with responsibility for human resources and as labour director in 2013. At Leoni, she will, as CHRO, oversee all processes involving the management and development of the workforce, which currently numbers about 100,000 employees worldwide, as well as occupy the position of Labour Director. In the newly established Human Resources department of the Executive Board, Dr. Ursula Biernert will additionally be responsible for Ethics, Risk, Compliance and Sustainability as well as Corporate Real Estate.

Ingo Spengler has been in charge of Operations in Leoni’s Wiring Systems Divisions (WSD) since January 2021. He previously completed career stints at Faurecia, Magna, and Volkswagen. His appointment to the Group’s Executive Board responds to the growing significance for the Company of complex supply chain management especially in the wiring systems business. As COO, Ingo Spengler will, among other things, advance standardisation and digitalization in the processes of our worldwide production network with a particular focus on manufacturing future wiring system generations. He will additionally be responsible for Value Chain Management as well as Quality Management & Safety/Health/Environment.
