Leoni and euromicron step up collaboration in the Fiber-to-the-Home growth market

Leoni sells a subsidiary in Austria and one in the Netherlands to euromicron holding GmbH

Nuremberg / Frankfurt – Leoni, the leading provider of cables and cable systems to the automotive sector and other industries, and euromicron AG, the leading provider of all-in solutions for network infrastructures, will be working together more closely in the future. Rooted in an already successfully established customer-supplier relationship, the two companies will deepen their partnership further in the market for fiber optic-based network infrastructures. As part of this move, Leoni last Friday sold the two subsidiaries, Leoni NBG Fiber Optics GmbH based in Gmünd, Austria and Leoni WCS Benelux B.V. in Amersfoort, Netherlands, to euromicron.

euromicron AG is listed in Deutsche Börse’s Prime Standard and is a provider of all-in solutions for communication, data and security networks. The company will, with this strategically motivated takeover of these two businesses, expand its development and production know-how in the field of glass fiber-based passive components, further enhance its expertise in the Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) solutions market and strengthen its presence in Austria and Benelux. FTTH describes the most advanced development level of wireline broadband internet connections with a glass fiber link all the way through to the consumer’s home.

As an all-in solution provider, NBG Fiber Optics GmbH – to be known in the future as euromicron NBG – covers a broad spectrum of passive system components such as glass fiber cable, empty conduit systems as well as connection technology and provides planning, engineering, project management as well as installation services in the FTTH segment, primarily so in the German-speaking region. Leoni WCS Benelux B.V. operates as a sales and distribution company in the Benelux countries. The two companies employ a total of about 60 people.

Leoni and euromicron regard the deal as the start of greater collaboration in the FTTH business and expect this closer linking of their skills and market access to strengthen their combined market position. The companies see opportunities for joint endeavour in other segments as well.
